Verdict: REALLY RARE. PSA has graded 733 and CGC 276, and neither has ever given this card a 10. CGC has not even given a 9.5. On the counts alone this would be a GRAIL. We print REALLY RARE because two graders are not linked yet, and a grail call needs all four.

What is possible

  • If you own a PSA 9: you hold one of 66, the top grade PSA has ever given this card.

  • If you just want a ten: there is none to buy. The first PSA or CGC 10 sets every comp that follows.

  • If you are cracking a PSA 9 to chase a 10: 1,009 tries across two graders have not produced one. The tin era was hard on these cards, and its siblings Suicune and Raikou show the same thing (Stat of the week, below).

Recent sales for Entei HGSS20 are in the Insider section below.

Stat of the week

5 of 3,136. PSA and CGC have graded 3,136 copies of the three Fall 2010 tin legendaries, Entei, Suicune and Raikou. Five came back a 10, all at PSA: Suicune 2, Raikou 3, Entei 0.

CGC's count is 0 of 794 across all three. Raikou is the closest it has come, with two 9.5s.

This week's Insider picks

Kyogre, Call of Legends SL6. PSA pop 24. Verdict for Insiders.

Kyogre SL6 · Call of Legends

On the label: PSA pop 24. A PSA 10 sold for $18,000 in January and closed at $312,000 on 4 Oct, and Fanatics lists both as paid. The other big grader's count is the part nobody quotes.

Inside: the four-grader count, the verdict, five recent sales and what a $312,000 close means for the PSA 9s.

Gyarados, Legendary Collection 12, reverse holo. PSA pop 21. Verdict for Insiders.

Gyarados 12 · Legendary Collection reverse holo

On the label: PSA pop 21. A PSA 10 closed at $384,000 on 20 Sep. The same card in a different grader's 10 sold for a small fraction of that.

Inside: the four-grader count, the verdict, the PSA 10 price path since last November and the gap between the two graders' tens.

Pop-1 Watch: 739 pop 1 and pop 2 slabs gained a copy this week. One is a Legendary Collection card whose "pop 1" slab closed at $576,000 last Sunday.
