Data: CGC read live on 25 Oct (reverse holo row only); PSA via Scrydex's copy of PSA's pop report on 25 Oct. The regular holo is a different slab and is not counted. TAG and Beckett do not have it linked, which is not the same as zero.

❝

Verdict: RARE-ISH. Nineteen tens across two graders, so this is not a pop 1 card. The scarce part is the top of CGC's scale: two Pristine 10s in 403 copies. And PSA keeps missing. It has graded 92 more of these since 13 Oct, and none came back a 10.

What is possible

  • If you own a CGC Gem Mint 10: you hold one of 5, one step below the two Pristine 10s.

  • If you are cracking a PSA 9 to chase a 10: PSA gives a 10 about once in 200 copies of this reverse, and its last 92 tries produced none. The 9s now sell for five figures (below the line), so a crack risks a lot.

  • If you are waiting on the second Pristine 10: the first one's $576,000 close from 11 Oct is now listed as paid. We have not seen the second one sell.

Recent sales for Gengar are in the Insider section below.

Stat of the week

2 of 4. On Sunday 11 Oct, Fanatics Weekly closed four Pokémon slabs above $500,000: a Plasma Storm Lugia-EX PSA 10 at $660,000, a Southern Islands Mew PSA 10 at $660,000, the Gengar above at $576,000 and a Majestic Dawn Leafeon LV.X PSA 10 at $528,000.

Two weeks later, Fanatics lists two of them as paid (Mew and Gengar) and two as unpaid (Lugia-EX and Leafeon). A closing price is a bid until it is paid. We say which is which.

Since last week

  • Entei HGSS20. Still no 10 anywhere: PSA 0 of 737, CGC 0 of 282. No PSA 9 has sold at Fanatics since the $6,300 close on 4 Oct.

  • Kyogre SL6. We wrote that the PSA 9s had not followed the $312,000 PSA 10. They have now. A PSA 9 closed at $19,800 on 18 Oct, which Fanatics lists as unpaid. The last paid PSA 9 there was $1,890 on 23 Aug. CGC still has no 10 (0 of 149).

  • Gyarados LC 12 reverse holo. Two PSA 9s closed on 18 Oct: $18,000 (paid) and $21,000 (unpaid). PSA still has 21 tens, now of 1,676.

  • Lugia-EX 134. The $660,000 close from 11 Oct is still listed as unpaid. Its set is Plasma Storm, which last week's issue did not say.

  • Suicune and Raikou HGSS21 and HGSS19. No change at the top: Suicune PSA 2 of 900, CGC 0 of 284; Raikou PSA 3 of 725, CGC 0 of 243 with two 9.5s.

  • Leafeon LV.X moves from the Watchlist to an Insider pick this week.

This week's Insider picks

Leafeon LV.X, Majestic Dawn 99. PSA pop 6. Verdict for Insiders.

Leafeon LV.X 99 · Majestic Dawn

On the label: PSA pop 6. A PSA 10 closed at $528,000 on 11 Oct, and two weeks later Fanatics still lists it as unpaid. So did every Leafeon above $18,000 at the next Sunday's close.

Inside: the four-grader count, the verdict, which Leafeon prices are paid sales and which are bids, and what that means for a PSA 9.

Latias Gold Star, EX Deoxys 105. PSA pop 22. Verdict for Insiders.

Latias ☆ 105 · EX Deoxys

On the label: PSA pop 22. CGC's only Pristine 10 sold for $456,000 at Fanatics Premier on 25 Sep, listed as paid. One grade step down sold for a small fraction of that.

Inside: the four-grader count, the verdict, the Pristine gap, and why there is no recent PSA 10 price to compare.

Pop-1 Watch: 818 pop 1 and pop 2 slabs gained a copy this week. One is a Delta Species Charizard that CGC has graded 809 times.
